Merry Christmas Eve

It’s amazing how quickly 12 days before Christmas have gone by with this little blog. Yes, Christmas Eve is only a short time away. And I’m happy this Christmas season.

I live with the love of my life, a beautiful, culturally aware, continuously inquiring woman. And she’s agreed to live with me, listening and loving and reflecting back and challenging.

A wonderful non-human friend shares our pack, bringing dog things into my view that challenge me to understand him while we play.

Just yesterday, I heard the voices of each of my three sons, a gift not often given to a father, each telling stories that make me wonder (continue to wonder) how I’d become lucky enough to be father to men men of talent and accomplishment who frequently don’t ask for guidance, and who may be smarter than me.

I find enormous satisfaction reading the words of three women in my life who’ve joined those men in callings together, finding and following new and authentic lives. And who may be smarter than their men.

And a first spectacular grand-daughter, yet to be hugged and followed around enough and who may be smarter than her mother and father, is a gift beyond price.

Linda and I decided we’d be most frugal in our gifting to each other this year, so we’ll find a time to go online during Christmas Day and give our gifts for each other to a charity each of us choose.
And I’ll read with eagerness what each member of our small family writes in the day and season to come, as there are still 12 days of Christmas, and you all have places to go and promises to keep I'll want to hear about, and maybe snow!

But tonight, we'll end the evening with champagne in front of the fire -- likely a pup there too -- and just be with each other and our smiles.
Merry Christmas to each and all of you.
Love, Pop.
